In response to Lee: Pretending to shoot people is ok as long as you see the irony in that by playing the stereotype of the conservative gun nut shooting these minorities you are in fact making fun of yourself, and realizing that stereotypes and blink-eye judgements are really quite silly in the first place. When everyone gets made fun of, we can all smile at our differences and have a hand-holding sing-a-long to “Cat Scratch Fever.” Gosh golly gee, what a great way to bring about discussion and change.
As far as Nugent for president, he does seem to be a man that is passionate about what he believes. Dubya works the same way, and perhaps that tofu-eating commie neighbor of yours also has his/her own solution to all the problems of society. Now if Nugent was down with listening to others with differing opinions, and taking into consideration everyone who appears to be and may actually be “Ruining America,” then he might not be such a bad guy. But if you’re good at hunting and guitar playing, why not stick with a good thing.

I’ve read that anti-ted thing before. If you wanna know why I know he’s not racist, here we go. Many of his favorite artists learning guitar were in fact black. Watch his full bluntal nugity DVD (or a rip if you don’t wanna pay for it) he lists so many classic black blues artists as his favorite musicians growing up in one point. How can a man who obviously admires a certain portion of black culture so much possibly be a racist?
If you pay attention to what he’s saying, he says the south african natives are ahead of the game since they’re not following society’s bullshit rules. No racism there.
If you disagree about what he says about Hillary Clinton, you need a lobotomy. Even my aunt who’s as liberal as most come says she’s bad for the country.
And I don’t love Nuge too much. He’s a great guy, but if you wanna see a musician I love too much, look up Joe Perry of Aerosmith. That guy’s a bad ass. I’m just trying to be fair. That’s the reason why I’m offended by black man being in there. If it were changed to say gangsta rapper I’d have no problem, but he’s titled black man, which insists that Mr. Nugent is a racist, the most disgusting label we can have short of rapist, child molester, and child killer. That is what is offensive.

Excellent argument there Murph. While I don’t 100% agree with you, it’s awesome to see some intelligent debate coming out of this, which is what I think we wanted to see when we first posted this. I’m not sure “gangsta rapper” would really help, as it would just get us into a different debate about race, but you are right that race is a pretty touchy subject. Of course, as a gay man, I’d like to see people eventually say that homophobia is as bad as racism, etc. etc… but I’m patient.

My counter to that argument would be that Nugent is trying to justify apartheid by saying it “isn’t that cut and dry.” You know what apartheid did to South Africa.
Nugent is also known to refer to Arabs as “towelheads” on Detroit radio where he would guest DJ. This all seems pretty racist to me.
I may agree with Hillary Clinton being bad for the country, but calling her a “toxic cunt,” a “bitch,” and a “two-bit whore” seems somewhat misogynistic, no? Again, not much of a positive trait. He can claim to be not racist or sexist all he wants, but his other quotes don’t seem to back that up.
Aside from all that, he hates gay people. He’s very open-mouthed about that. Aside from his above quotes, he’s said things during shows such as the gem, “this song will make a faggot want pussy.” Not really a class act.
He also was known to have sex with underage girls, as young as 15, while on tour. He even arranged to have legal guardianship over one of his girlfriends while he was dating her. How does this match up with his sentiments against child molestation? It’s not EXACTLY the same thing, but it’s pretty damn close.

The legal guardianship thing wasnt ted nugent’s. That was steven tyler of aerosmith, and I find it disgusting myself.
And I’m sure we all know someone who says the most horrible things about people of all ethnicities and gender, but know for a FACT that they don’t mean it. My brother’s like that. If you do know someone like that, and I’m putting my money on ‘you do’ it shoots a big whole right through your arguement, because Mr Nugent is just like that. Hates political correctness and will say what he wants, damned if he gives a shit what anyone thinks because of it.
He doesn’t hate gay people either. He hates the act. Has nothing to do with the individual person, if you were to watch both occurances of his reality show, Surviving Nugent, both winners were either gay or bi, and he didn’t really seem to have a huge problem with them being near him. And I do agree that hating people because they are homosexual is a bad thing, I don’t see anything wrong with hating the act until we see definitive proof that homosexuality is nurture over nature or vice versa. Though I personally hate neither myself. Just don’t find the act that pleasant to think about, lol.
