  4. Kev Says:

    Is “that” really an adjective?

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/that

“That” is a pronoun. Is this what happens just 2 weeks after I leave, the entire site becomes a complete debauchery (noun)!?

  6. The Sultan of Grammar Says:

‘That’ can be used as both a pronoun and an adjective:

‘That is an excellent comic.’ (pronoun)

    or

    ‘That comic is excellent.’ (adjective)

It has many other uses as well!

    Until next time,

  7. Matt Smith Says:

I think you can also use “that” as a wedge if you have an unsteady table or nightstand.

I also read somewhere that “that” makes a nice garnish if you’re cooking chicken or lamb.

  8. Supermark Says:

In the case of “that’s what she said,” “that” would be a pronoun. But in this case, since he’s asking which adjective it’d be, it’s not “that’s what she said,” but “‘that’ is what she said,” where “that” is a quoted adjective.
